CVMF is honored to have our President, Donna C Rowe, speaking and telling her story in Bakersfield, CA, for National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
Heartfelt ceremony honoring our #vietnamveterans at a #NationalVietnamWarVeteransDay ceremony. Guest speaker Captain Donna Rowe, U.S. Army Nurse Corps, conveyed moving accounts of the service and sacrifice of those who served in Vietnam. As head emergency nurse at the 3rd Field Hospital in Vietnam, Captain Rowe faced unimaginable challenges. She saved countless lives, including that of a critically wounded four-month-old baby girl, the sole survivor of a bombed village. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Vietnam veterans read the names of the 180 KIA Vietnam service members from Kern County, followed by a gun salute and taps by Kern County Associated Veterans Honor Guard. ALWAYS REMEMBERED; NEVER FORGOTTEN. Special thanks to Portrait of a Warrior Gallery – Kern County and board president Jeff Salters for hosting the ceremony. Thank you, veterans. Welcome home!
